I love to paint all the small-breath-taking moments. I prefer to paint from memory because then, I’m not just capturing what I saw, but also what I heard, smelled, touched, tasted and felt. I was sitting in my bedroom one evening and the flutter of motion outside my window drew my eye to the beauty of the moon. It seemed so picturesque and complimentary that at that very moment I grabbed a small canvas and hurriedly put it down. Those moments when life arranges itself so perfectly- colour, contrast and form, whether it’s a gorgeous sunset or a rough alleyway- are what I’m desperate to capture. I feel like this painting is both playful and serious; a juxtaposition between the clamorous, wild bats and the somber, still moon.
